BETH-MARCABOTH bĕth mär’ kə bôth (Josh 19:5, בֵית־הַמַּרְכָּבֹ֖ות; 1 Chron 4:31 בֵּ֤ית מַרְכָּבﯴת׃֙; LXX Josh 19:5 B Βαιθμαχερεβ; A Βαιθαμμαρχαβωθ; 1 Chron 4:31 Βαιθμαρχαβωθ; house of chariots). A city apportioned to Simeon within the borders of Judah in the far S (Josh 19:5; 1 Chron 4:31). Its identification with Madmannah, modern Khirbet Umm ed-Deimineh c. 15 m. SW of Hebron, is suggested by the corresponding list in Joshua 15:31. Perhaps originally named Madmannah it was renamed when converted to a chariot city.
