BENE-JAAKAN bĕn’ ĭ jā’ ə kən (בְּֽנֵי־יַעֲקָ֑נ֙, sons of Jaakan). A tribe of Horites in the area near Mt. Hor at the time of the Exodus or shortly before (Jaakan in 1 Chron 1:42=Akan in Gen 36:27). Cf. Beeroth Bene-Jaakan. They were eventually displaced by the Edomites (Deut 2:12).
