BAANA bā’ ə nə (בַּֽעֲנָא׃֙, son of oppression). BAANAH of 1 Kings 4:16 KJV. 1. Son of Ahilud. One of twelve officers of Solomon commissioned to provide food for the king’s household. His district included Taanach, Megiddo, Beth-shean near Zarethan, and Abel-meholah to beyond Jokmeam (1 Kings 4:12).

2. The son of Hushai. Another of Solomon’s commissariat officers, whose district was Asher and Bealoth (1 Kings 4:16).

3. Father of Zadok, who shared in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem under the supervision of Nehemiah (Neh 3:4). Possibly the same as Baanah 3.
