BAALATH-BEER bā’ ə lāth be’ ər (בַּֽעֲלַ֥ת בְּאֵ֖ר, mistress of a well). A city of Simeon, possibly the shrine of a goddess. It is the “Ramah of the South” (Josh 19:8; 1 Chron 4:33). It is identified also by some with 6 under BAALAH q.v. Though the exact site is unknown, it is supposedly in the far S of the Negeb and near a well.
