AZGAD ăz’ găd (עַזְגָּ֔ד, Gad is strong). The head of a family that returned from the Exile. They returned in two contingents, one with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:12; Neh 7:17; 1 Esd 5:13 RSV, ASV ASTAD KJV SADAS) the other with Ezra (Ezra 8:12). An Azgad appears as one of those who signed the covenant (Neh 10:15).
