Shema

Shema [Shē'mă]—repute, fame or rumor.

  1. A son of Hebron and father of Raham (1 Chron. 2:43, 44).
  2. A Reubenite, a son of Joel and father of Azaz (1 Chron. 5:4, 8).
  3. A Benjamite, head of the inhabitants of Aijalon (1 Chron. 8:13). Called Shimhi in verse twenty-one and Shimei in the RV
  4. A priest who assisted Ezra in the public reading of the law (Neh. 8:4). Also the name of a city in Judah (Josh. 15:26).
