Shaphat

Shaphat [Shā'phat]—judge or he hath judged.

  1. A Simeonite, son of Hori, and tribe representative sent as a spy to Canaan (Num. 13:5).
  2. The father of Elisha the prophet (1 Kings 19:16, 19; 2 Kings 3:11; 6:31).
  3. A son of Shemaiah included in the royal genealogy of Judah (1 Chron. 3:22).
  4. A chief of Gadite in Bashan (1 Chron. 5:12).
  5. A son of Adlai and David’s overseer of cattle in the valley (1 Chron. 27:29).
