Semachiah [Sĕma chī'ah]—jehovah supports or sustains. A son of Shemaiah and a Levite gatekeeper of the Tabernacle in David’s time (1 Chron. 26:7). Perhaps the same as Ismachiah (2 Chron. 31:13).
