Lemuel [Lĕm'uel]—devoted to god or god is bright. The royal author of Proverbs 31:1, 4 who reproduces what his mother taught him. He has been identified as Solomon or Hezekiah. It is also suggested that the name may be a fanciful title to represent any virtuous king, invented for the purpose of conveying certain axioms.
