2 If Abraham was justified[a] by works,(A) he has something to boast about—but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness.[b](B) 4 Now to the one who works,(C) pay is not credited as a gift, but as something owed.
