⁵^(A) The beast was allowed to brag and claim to be God, and for 42 months it was allowed to rule.

New International Version

⁵The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies^(A) and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.^(B)

⁶The beast cursed God, and it cursed the name of God. It even cursed the place where God lives, as well as everyone who lives in heaven with God.

⁶It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven.^(A)
