Proverbs 13:7-9

⁷ One person pretends to be rich but has nothing;^(A)
another pretends to be poor but has abundant wealth.^(B)

⁸ Riches are a ransom for a person’s life,^(C)
but a poor person hears no threat.

⁹ The light of the righteous shines brightly,^(D)
but the lamp of the wicked is put out.^(E)
