^42 (A)Do not go up, for the Lord is not among you, ^[a]to prevent you from being defeated ^[b]by your enemies. ⁴³ For the Amalekites and the Canaanites will be there ^[c]to confront you, and you will fall by the sword, since you have turned back from following the Lord. And the Lord will not be with you.”

¹² Therefore the ^(A)sons of Israel cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their ^[a]backs before their enemies, because they have become designated for destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you eliminate from your midst the things designated for destruction.
