³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness,^(A) and you didn’t believe him. Tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; but you, when you saw it, didn’t even change your minds then and believe him.

¹² Tax collectors^(A) also came to be baptized, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do?” ^(B)

²⁵ He had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit,^[a] he was speaking and teaching accurately about Jesus, although he knew only John’s baptism.^(A)

³ “Into what then were you baptized?” he asked them.

“Into John’s baptism,” they replied.^(A)
