(मत्ती 3:1-12; लूका 3:1-9,15-17; यूहन्ना 1:19-28)
1 परमेस्सर क पूत ईसू मसीह क सुसमाचार[a] क सुरुआत। 2 जइसा अगवा होई, यसायाह नबी[b] क किताब मँ लिखा अहइ: उ कहेस,
3 “एक ठु मनई के चिल्लाय क अवाज उसरे मँ सुनि लीन्ह:
‘पर्भू क बरे रस्ता बनवा
अउर सोझ रस्ता तइयार करा।’” (B)
4 यूहन्ना उसरे मँ बपतिस्मा देत आइ। उ लोगन स बपतिस्मा लेने क कहेस कि उ आपन मनफिराव क दिखा सकइँ। अउर ओनके पापन्क छमा होइ। 5 यरूसलेम अउ यहूदिया देस क सब जने ओकरे निअरे गएन। जइसे उ सब आपुन्हि पापन्क कबूलेन्ह, उ सब यरदन नदिया मँ ओसे बपतिस्मा पाएन।
6 यूहन्ना ऊँटन्क बारेन्स बनवा बस्तर पहिरत रहा, अउर करिहाउँ प खालि क पेटी बाँधत रहा। उ टिड्डन्क अउर जंगली सहद खात रहा।
7 उ इ बात क प्रचार करत रहा: “मोरे पाछे मोसे जिआदा एक ठु बरिआर मनई आई। मइँ ऍतना जोग्य नाहीं कि ओकरे सोझे खड़ा होइके अउर निहुरिके ओकरे बधियउरी क फीता तलक खोलि सकउँ। 8 मइँ तू पचन्क पानी स बपतिस्मा देत अही मुला उ तू पचन्क पवित्तर आतिमा[d] स बपतिस्मा देई।”

John the Baptist Prepares the Way(A)
1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah,[a] the Son of God,[b](B) 2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”[c](C)—
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[d](D)
4 And so John the Baptist(E) appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance(F) for the forgiveness of sins.(G) 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist,(H) and he ate locusts(I) and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.(J) 8 I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit.”(K)
