¹⁸ “‘Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws,^(A) and you will live safely in the land.^{(B) 19} Then the land will yield its fruit,^(C) and you will eat your fill and live there in safety.^(D)

Blessings for Obedience

28 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow^(A) all his commands^(B) I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.^{(C) 2} All these blessings will come on you^(D) and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:

¹² The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse^(A) of his bounty,^(B) to send rain^(C) on your land in season and to bless^(D) all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.^(E)

²¹ Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice^(A) behind you, saying, “This is the way;^(B) walk in it.” ²² Then you will desecrate your idols^(C) overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold;^(D) you will throw them away like a menstrual^(E) cloth and say to them, “Away with you!^(F)”

²³ He will also send you rain^(G) for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich^(H) and plentiful.^(I) In that day^(J) your cattle will graze in broad meadows.^(K)
