11 (A)Moreover, I will [a]make My [b]dwelling among you, and My soul will not loathe you. 12 (B)I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people. 13 (C)I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves, and (D)I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.

Reject His Statutes and He Will Strike You

14 (E)But if you do not obey Me and do not do all these commandments, 15 if, instead, you (F)reject My statutes, and if your soul loathes My judgments so as not to do all My commandments and so (G)break My covenant, 16 I, in turn, will do this to you: I will appoint over you a (H)sudden terror, consumption and fever that will waste away the eyes and cause the (I)soul to pine away; also, (J)you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it up. 17 And I will [c]set My face against you so that you will be [d]defeated before your enemies; and (K)those who hate you will have dominion over you, and (L)you will flee when no one is pursuing you. 18 If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will discipline you (M)seven times more for your sins. 19 I will also (N)break down your pride of strength; I will also give your sky over to become like iron and your earth like bronze. 20 (O)And your power will be spent uselessly, for your land will not give forth its produce and the trees of the land will not give forth their fruit.

21 ‘If then, you (P)walk in hostility against Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you (Q)seven times according to your sins. 22 (R)And I will send out among you the beasts of the field, which will bereave you of your children and cut down your cattle and reduce your number so that (S)your roads lie desolate.

23 (T)And if by these things you do not accept My discipline, but walk in hostility against Me, 24 then I will (U)walk in hostility against you; and I, even I, will strike you (V)seven times for your sins. 25 I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute (W)vengeance for the covenant; and when you gather together into your cities, I will send (X)pestilence among you so that you shall be given over into enemy hands. 26 (Y)When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread by rationed weight so that you will (Z)eat and not become full.

27 ‘Yet, if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but walk in hostility against Me, 28 then (AA)I will walk in wrathful hostility against you, and I, even I, will discipline you seven times for your sins. 29 Further, (AB)you will eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters you will eat. 30 I then (AC)will destroy your high places and cut down your (AD)incense altars and give your corpses to lie on the corpses of your idols, for My soul shall loathe you. 31 And I will give your cities over as a (AE)waste and will make your (AF)sanctuaries desolate, and I will not (AG)smell your soothing aromas. 32 And I will make (AH)the land desolate, (AI)so that your enemies who inhabit it will themselves feel desolate because of it. 33 You, however, I (AJ)will scatter among the nations and will draw out a sword after you, as your land becomes desolate and your cities become waste.

34 (AK)Then the land will make up for its sabbaths all the days of the desolation, and you will be in your enemies’ land; then the land will rest and make up for its sabbaths. 35 All the days of its desolation it will observe the rest which it did not observe on your sabbaths, while you were living on it. 36 As for those of you who may remain, I will also bring (AL)weakness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a driven leaf will pursue them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee [e]as though from the sword, and they will fall. 37 (AM)They will therefore stumble over each other as if running from the sword, although no one is pursuing; and you will have no strength [f]to stand up before your enemies. 38 But (AN)you will perish among the nations, and your enemies’ land will consume you. 39 (AO)So those of you who may remain will rot away in their iniquity in the lands of your enemies; and also in the iniquities of their fathers they will rot away with them.

40 (AP)If they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also how they walked in hostility against Me— 41 I also was walking in hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies—(AQ)or if their uncircumcised heart becomes humbled so that (AR)they then make up for their iniquity, 42 then I will remember (AS)My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also (AT)My covenant with Isaac and (AU)My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land. 43 (AV)For the land will be forsaken by them and will make up for its sabbaths while it is made desolate without them. They, meanwhile, will be making up for their iniquity [g]because they rejected My judgments and their (AW)soul loathed My statutes. 44 Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so (AX)loathe them as (AY)to bring an end to them, (AZ)breaking My covenant with them; for I am Yahweh their God. 45 But I will remember for them the (BA)covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that (BB)I might be their God. I am Yahweh.’”

46 (BC)These are the statutes and judgments and laws which Yahweh has given to be between Himself and the sons of Israel by the hand of Moses at Mount Sinai.

11 I will put my dwelling place[a](A) among you, and I will not abhor you.(B) 12 I will walk(C) among you and be your God,(D) and you will be my people.(E) 13 I am the Lord your God,(F) who brought you out of Egypt(G) so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke(H) and enabled you to walk with heads held high.

Punishment for Disobedience

14 “‘But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands,(I) 15 and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws(J) and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant,(K) 16 then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever(L) that will destroy your sight and sap your strength.(M) You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.(N) 17 I will set my face(O) against you so that you will be defeated(P) by your enemies;(Q) those who hate you will rule over you,(R) and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you.(S)

18 “‘If after all this you will not listen to me,(T) I will punish(U) you for your sins seven times over.(V) 19 I will break down your stubborn pride(W) and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze.(X) 20 Your strength will be spent in vain,(Y) because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of your land yield their fruit.(Z)

21 “‘If you remain hostile(AA) toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over,(AB) as your sins deserve. 22 I will send wild animals(AC) against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make you so few(AD) in number that your roads will be deserted.(AE)

23 “‘If in spite of these things you do not accept my correction(AF) but continue to be hostile toward me, 24 I myself will be hostile(AG) toward you and will afflict you for your sins seven times over. 25 And I will bring the sword(AH) on you to avenge(AI) the breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague(AJ) among you, and you will be given into enemy hands. 26 When I cut off your supply of bread,(AK) ten women will be able to bake your bread in one oven, and they will dole out the bread by weight. You will eat, but you will not be satisfied.

27 “‘If in spite of this you still do not listen to me(AL) but continue to be hostile toward me, 28 then in my anger(AM) I will be hostile(AN) toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over.(AO) 29 You will eat(AP) the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters.(AQ) 30 I will destroy your high places,(AR) cut down your incense altars(AS) and pile your dead bodies[b] on the lifeless forms of your idols,(AT) and I will abhor(AU) you. 31 I will turn your cities into ruins(AV) and lay waste(AW) your sanctuaries,(AX) and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings.(AY) 32 I myself will lay waste the land,(AZ) so that your enemies who live there will be appalled.(BA) 33 I will scatter(BB) you among the nations(BC) and will draw out my sword(BD) and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste,(BE) and your cities will lie in ruins.(BF) 34 Then the land will enjoy its sabbath years all the time that it lies desolate(BG) and you are in the country of your enemies;(BH) then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. 35 All the time that it lies desolate, the land will have the rest(BI) it did not have during the sabbaths you lived in it.

36 “‘As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf(BJ) will put them to flight.(BK) They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them.(BL) 37 They will stumble over one another(BM) as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to stand before your enemies.(BN) 38 You will perish(BO) among the nations; the land of your enemies will devour you.(BP) 39 Those of you who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins; also because of their ancestors’(BQ) sins they will waste away.(BR)

40 “‘But if they will confess(BS) their sins(BT) and the sins of their ancestors(BU)—their unfaithfulness and their hostility toward me, 41 which made me hostile(BV) toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts(BW) are humbled(BX) and they pay(BY) for their sin, 42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob(BZ) and my covenant with Isaac(CA) and my covenant with Abraham,(CB) and I will remember the land. 43 For the land will be deserted(CC) by them and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. They will pay for their sins because they rejected(CD) my laws and abhorred my decrees.(CE) 44 Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies,(CF) I will not reject them or abhor(CG) them so as to destroy them completely,(CH) breaking my covenant(CI) with them. I am the Lord their God. 45 But for their sake I will remember(CJ) the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out of Egypt(CK) in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the Lord.’”

46 These are the decrees, the laws and the regulations that the Lord established at Mount Sinai(CL) between himself and the Israelites through Moses.(CM)
