Israel Worships the Baals
11 The Israelites[a] did evil in the eyes of Yahweh, and they served[b] the Baals. 12 They abandoned Yahweh the God of their ancestors,[c] who brought them out from the land of Egypt. They followed[d] other gods from the gods of the people who were around them; and they bowed down to them, and they provoked the anger of Yahweh. 13 They abandoned Yahweh, and they served Baal and the Ashtaroth.

11 Then the Israelites did evil(A) in the eyes of the Lord(B) and served the Baals.(C) 12 They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods(D) of the peoples around them.(E) They aroused(F) the Lord’s anger(G) 13 because they forsook(H) him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.(I)
