18 And the Lord did cast out before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord, [a]for he is our God.
19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the Lord: for he is an holy God: he is a jealous God: he will not pardon your iniquity nor your sins.
20 If ye forsake the Lord and serve strange gods, (A)then he will return and bring evil upon you, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

New International Version
18 And the Lord drove out(A) before us all the nations,(B) including the Amorites, who lived in the land.(C) We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.(D)”
19 Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God;(E) he is a jealous God.(F) He will not forgive(G) your rebellion(H) and your sins. 20 If you forsake the Lord(I) and serve foreign gods, he will turn(J) and bring disaster(K) on you and make an end of you,(L) after he has been good to you.”
