¹¹ Then the priests and the prophets said to the officials and all the people, “This man should be sentenced to death^(A) because he has prophesied against this city. You have heard it with your own ears!”^(B)

¹⁹ Then the officials^(A) said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah, go and hide.^(B) Don’t let anyone know where you are.”

²⁵ Even though Elnathan, Delaiah^(A) and Gemariah^(B) urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.

⁷ But Ebed-Melek,^(A) a Cushite,^[a] an official^[b](B) in the royal palace, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern. While the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate,^(C)

¹³ and they pulled him up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard.^(A)
