⁶ The canals will stink;^(A)
    the streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up.^(B)
The reeds^(C) and rushes will wither,^(D)
7     also the plants^(E) along the Nile,
    at the mouth of the river.
Every sown field^(F) along the Nile
    will become parched, will blow away and be no more.^(G)
8 The fishermen^(H) will groan and lament,
    all who cast hooks^(I) into the Nile;
those who throw nets on the water
    will pine away.

¹⁴ I will lay^(A) waste Upper Egypt,
    set fire to Zoan^(B)
    and inflict punishment on Thebes.^(C)
15 I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium,
    the stronghold of Egypt,
    and wipe out the hordes of Thebes.
¹⁶ I will set fire^(D) to Egypt;
    Pelusium will writhe in agony.
Thebes will be taken by storm;
    Memphis^(E) will be in constant distress.
