⁹ Then Abram journeyed by stages to the Negev.

Abram and Lot Separate

13 Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev^(A)—he, his wife, and all he had, and Lot with him.

³ He went by stages from the Negev to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had formerly been,

¹⁷ When Moses sent them to scout out the land of Canaan, he told them, “Go up this way to the Negev, then go up into the hill country.

²² They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak,^(A) were living. Hebron was built seven years before Zoan^(B) in Egypt.

²⁹ The Amalekites^(A) are living in the land of the Negev; the Hethites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live by the sea and along the Jordan.”

⁷ They went to the fortress of Tyre and all the cities of the Hivites and Canaanites. Afterward, they went to the Negev of Judah at Beer-sheba.
