⁷ keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation,^[a]
forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin,
yet by no means clearing the guilty,
but visiting the iniquity of the parents
upon the children
and the children’s children
to the third and the fourth generation.”^(A)

⁸ The Lord is merciful and gracious,
    slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.^(A)

³     you set the beams of your^[a] chambers on the waters;
you make the clouds your^[b] chariot;
    you ride on the wings of the wind;^(A)

⁶     you will be visited by the Lord of hosts
with thunder and earthquake and great noise,
    with whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a devouring fire.^(A)
