Exodus 1:8-11

8 Now a new (A)king arose over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9 And (B)he said to his people, “Behold, the people of the sons of Israel are [a]too many and too mighty for us. 10 Come, let us (C)deal [b]shrewdly with them, otherwise they will multiply, and [c]in the event of war, they will also join those who hate us, and fight against us and [d]depart from the land.” 11 So they appointed (D)taskmasters over them to oppress them with [e](E)hard labor. And they built for Pharaoh (F)storage cities, Pithom and (G)Raamses.

New International Version
8 Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt.(A) 9 “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous(B) for us.(C) 10 Come, we must deal shrewdly(D) with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.”(E)
11 So they put slave masters(F) over them to oppress them with forced labor,(G) and they built Pithom and Rameses(H) as store cities(I) for Pharaoh.
