7 King Ahasuerus said to Esther the Queen and to Mordecai the Jew, “Look, I have given Haman’s estate to Esther,(A) and he was hanged on the gallows because he attacked[a] the Jews.(B) 8 You may write in the king’s name whatever pleases you(C) concerning the Jews, and seal it with the royal signet ring.(D) A document written in the king’s name and sealed with the royal signet ring cannot be revoked.”(E)

7 King Xerxes replied to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, “Because Haman attacked the Jews, I have given his estate to Esther, and they have impaled(A) him on the pole he set up. 8 Now write another decree(B) in the king’s name in behalf of the Jews as seems best to you, and seal(C) it with the king’s signet ring(D)—for no document written in the king’s name and sealed with his ring can be revoked.”(E)

10 Mordecai wrote in King Ahasuerus’s name and sealed the edicts with the royal signet ring. He sent the documents by mounted couriers,(A) who rode fast horses(B) bred from the royal racing mares.

10 Mordecai wrote in the name of King Xerxes, sealed the dispatches with the king’s signet ring, and sent them by mounted couriers, who rode fast horses especially bred for the king.
