“Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord says: Are you(A) the one to build me a house to dwell in?(B) I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day.(C) I have been moving from place to place with a tent(D) as my dwelling.(E) Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites,(F) did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd(G) my people Israel, “Why have you not built me a house(H) of cedar?(I)”’

“Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock,(J) and appointed you ruler(K) over my people Israel.(L) I have been with you wherever you have gone,(M) and I have cut off all your enemies from before you.(N) Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men on earth.(O)

Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the Lord, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
