Uriah’s Death Arranged
14 The next morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah. 15 In the letter he wrote:
Put Uriah(A) at the front of the fiercest fighting, then withdraw from him so that he is struck down and dies.

14 In the morning David wrote a letter(A) to Joab and sent it with Uriah. 15 In it he wrote, “Put Uriah out in front where the fighting is fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down(B) and die.(C)”

8 So she wrote letters(A) in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal.(B) She sent the letters to the elders(C) and nobles who lived with Naboth in his city. 9 In the letters, she wrote:
Proclaim a fast(D) and seat Naboth at the head of the people. 10 Then seat two wicked men(E) opposite him and have them testify against him, saying, “You have cursed God and the king!”(F) Then take him out and stone him to death.(G)
11 The men of his city, the elders and nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had commanded them, as was written in the letters she had sent them.

8 So she wrote letters(A) in Ahab’s name, placed his seal(B) on them, and sent them to the elders and nobles who lived in Naboth’s city with him. 9 In those letters she wrote:
“Proclaim a day of fasting and seat Naboth in a prominent place among the people. 10 But seat two scoundrels(C) opposite him and have them bring charges that he has cursed(D) both God and the king. Then take him out and stone him to death.”
11 So the elders and nobles who lived in Naboth’s city did as Jezebel directed in the letters she had written to them.
