⁴ and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual rock^(A) that followed them, and that rock was Christ.^{(B) 5} Nevertheless God was not pleased with most of them, since they were struck down in the wilderness.^(C)

⁶ Now these things took place as examples for us, so that we will not desire^(D) evil things as they did.^[a](E)
