And they said, “What is the guilt offering that we shall return to him?” They answered, “Five golden (A)tumors and five golden mice, (B)according to the number of the lords of the Philistines, for the same plague was on all of you and on your lords. So you must make images of your (C)tumors and images of your mice that ravage the land, (D)and give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps (E)he will lighten his hand from off you (F)and your gods and your land. Why should you harden your hearts as (G)the Egyptians and (H)Pharaoh hardened their hearts? After he had dealt severely with them, (I)did they not send the people away, and they departed?

The Philistines asked, “What guilt offering should we send to him?”

They replied, “Five gold tumors and five gold rats, according to the number(A) of the Philistine rulers, because the same plague(B) has struck both you and your rulers. Make models of the tumors(C) and of the rats that are destroying the country, and give glory(D) to Israel’s god. Perhaps he will lift his hand from you and your gods and your land. Why do you harden(E) your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh did? When Israel’s god dealt harshly with them,(F) did they(G) not send the Israelites out so they could go on their way?
