1 Kings 11:30-36
Holman Christian Standard Bible
30 Then Ahijah took hold of the new cloak he had on, tore it into 12 pieces,(A) 31 and said to Jeroboam, “Take 10 pieces for yourself, for this is what the Lord God of Israel says: ‘I am about to tear the kingdom out of Solomon’s hand. I will give you 10 tribes, 32 but one tribe will remain his because of my servant David(B) and because of Jerusalem, the city I chose out of all the tribes of Israel.(C) 33 For they have abandoned Me; they have bowed the knee to Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, to Chemosh, the god of Moab, and to Milcom, the god of the Ammonites.(D) They have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and to carry out My statutes and My judgments as his father David did.(E)
34 “‘However, I will not take the whole kingdom from his hand but will let him be ruler all the days of his life because of My servant David, whom I chose and who kept My commands and My statutes. 35 I will take 10 tribes of the kingdom from his son’s hand and give them to you. 36 I will give one tribe(F) to his son,(G) so that My servant David will always have a lamp before Me(H) in Jerusalem, the city I chose for Myself to put My name there.(I)

New International Version
30 and Ahijah took hold of the new cloak he was wearing and tore(A) it into twelve pieces. 31 Then he said to Jeroboam, “Take ten pieces for yourself, for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘See, I am going to tear(B) the kingdom out of Solomon’s hand and give you ten tribes. 32 But for the sake(C) of my servant David and the city of Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, he will have one tribe. 33 I will do this because they have[a] forsaken me and worshiped(D) Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Molek the god of the Ammonites, and have not walked(E) in obedience to me, nor done what is right in my eyes, nor kept my decrees(F) and laws as David, Solomon’s father, did.
34 “‘But I will not take the whole kingdom out of Solomon’s hand; I have made him ruler all the days of his life for the sake of David my servant, whom I chose and who obeyed my commands and decrees. 35 I will take the kingdom from his son’s hands and give you ten tribes. 36 I will give one tribe(G) to his son so that David my servant may always have a lamp(H) before me in Jerusalem, the city where I chose to put my Name.
