with incorruptibility,
and this mortal is clothed
with immortality,
then the saying that is written will take place:
Death has been swallowed up^(A) in victory.^(B)[a]
55 Death, where is your victory?
Death, where is your sting?^(C)[b]

⁴ He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.^(A)
Death will no longer exist;^(B)
grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer,^(C)
because the previous things^[a] have passed away.^(D)
