35 وہ کلام شاہ یہودا ہ اور یہویقیم بن یوسیاہ کے ایام میں خداوند کی طرف سے یرمیاہ پر ناز ل ہوا۔ 2 “اے یرمیاہ! ریکاب گھرانے کے پاس جا ؤ۔انہیں خداوند کے گھر کے کمرو ں میں سے کسی ایک میں آنے کے لئے مدعو کرو۔ انہیں پینے کے لئے مئے دو۔”
3 اس لئے میں (یرمیاہ) یاز نیاہ سے ملنے گیا۔ یازنیاہ اس یرمیاہ نامی ایک شخص کا بیٹا تھا۔ جو حبصِنیاہ نامی شخص کا بیٹا تھا اور میں یازنیاہ کے سبھی بھا ئیوں اور بیٹوں سے ملا میں نے پو رے ریکاب گھرانے کو ایک ساتھ اکٹھا کیا۔ 4 تب میں ریکاب خاندان کو خداوند کی ہیکل میں لے آیا۔ ہم لوگ اس کمرے میں گئے جو حنان کے بیٹوں کا سمجھا جا تا ہے۔حنان یجد لیاہ نامی شخص کا بیٹا تھا۔ حنان مرد خدا تھا۔ وہ کمرہ اس کمرے سے آگے تھا جس میں یہودا ہ کے شہزادے ٹھہرتے تھے۔ یہ سلوم کے بیٹے معسیاہ کے کمرے کے اوپر تھا۔معسیاہ ہیکل کا دربان تھا۔ 5 تب میں نے(یرمیاہ ) ریکا ب گھرانے کے سامنے کچھ پیالوں کے سامنے مئے سے بھرے کچھ کٹو رے رکھے اور میں نے ان سے کہا، “تھو ڑی مئے پیو۔”
6 لیکن ریکاب کے لوگوں نے جواب دیا، “ہم مئے کبھی نہیں پیتے کیوں کہ ہمارے با پ دادا ریکاب کے بیٹے یوناداب نے یہ حکم دیا تھا۔اس نے حکم دیا تھا: 'تمہیں اور تمہا ری نسل کو مئے کبھی نہیں پینا چا ہئے۔ 7 تمہیں کبھی گھر بنانا، پو دے اور تاکستا ن لگانا نہیں چا ہئے۔ تمہیں صرف خیموں میں رہنا چا ہئے۔اگر تم ایسا کرو گے تو اس ملک میں جہاں بھی تم جا ؤگے لمبے وقت تک کے لئے رہ سکو گے۔‘ 8 اس لئے ہم ریکابی لوگ ان سب چیزوں کو قبو ل کر تے ہیں جنہیں ہمارے باپ دادا یوناداب نے ہمیں حکم دیا ہے۔ 9 ہم مئے کبھی نہیں پیتے اور ہماری بیویاں اور بیٹے اور بیٹیاں مئے کبھی نہیں پیتی۔ ہم رہنے کے لئے گھر کبھی نہیں بنا تے اور ہم لوگوں کے لئے تاکستان یا کھیت کبھی نہیں ہو تے اور ہم فصلیں کبھی نہیں اگاتے۔ 10 ہم خیموں میں رہ رہے ہیں اور وہ سب مانا ہے جو ہمارے با پ دادا یوناداب نے حکم دیا ہے۔ 11 لیکن یوں ہوا جب شاہ بابل بنو کد نضر اس ملک پر چڑھ آیا تو ہم نے کہا کہ آؤ ہم کسدیوں اور ارامیوں کی فوج کے ڈر سے یروشلم کو چلے جا ئیں۔ یو ں ہم یروشلم میں بسے ہیں۔
12 تب خداوند کا پیغا م یرمیاہ کو ملا: 13 بنی اسرائیل کا خدا،خداوند قادر مطلق فرماتا ہے: “اے یر میاہ جا ؤ یہودا ہ اور یروشلم کے لوگوں کو یہ پیغام دو: اے لوگو! تمہیں سبق سکھانا چا ہئے اور میرے حکم کو قبول کرنا چا ہئے۔” یہ پیغام خداوند کا ہے۔ 14 “جو باتیں یوناداب بن ریکاب نے اپنے بیٹوں سے فرمایا کہ مئے نہ پیو وہ بجا لا ئے اور آج تک مئے نہیں پیتے، بلکہ انہوں نے اپنے باپ کے حکم کو مانا لیکن میں نے تم سے کلام کیا اور بر وقت تم کو کہا اور تم نے میری نہ سنی۔ 15 اور میں نے اپنے تمام خدمت گذار نبیوں کو تمہا رے پاس بھیجا اور ان کو بر وقت یہ کہتے ہو ئے بھیجا کہ تم ہر ایک اپنی بری راہ سے باز آؤ اور اپنے اعمال کو دُرست کرو اور غیر خدا ؤں کی پیروی اور عبادت نہ کرو۔ اور جو ملک میں نے تم کو اور تمہا رے با پ دادا کو دیا ہے تم اس میں بسو گے۔ لیکن تم نے کان نہ لگا یا نہ میری سنی۔ 16 یوناداب کے خاندان نے اپنے باپ دادا کے حکم کو جو اس نے دیا مانا۔ لیکن یہودا ہ کے لوگوں نے میرے حکم کو قبول نہیں کیا۔”
17 اس لئے خداوند،خدا قادر مطلق اسرائیل کا خدا یوں فرماتا ہے۔“دیکھو! میں یہوداہ پر اور یروشلم کے تمام باشندوں پر وہ سب مصیبت میں جس کا میں نے ان کے خلاف اعلان کیا ہے۔ لا ؤں گا کیوں کہ میں نے ان سے کلام کیا لیکن انہوں نے سننے سے انکار کیا اور میں نے ان کو بلا یا پر انہوں نے جواب نہ دیا۔”
18 اور یرمیاہ ریکابیوں کے گھرانے سے کہا، “خداوند قادر مطلق اسرائیل کا خدا یوں فرماتا ہے کہ تم نے اپنے با پ یوناداب کی تعلیمات کو مانا اور اس کی سب وصیتوں پر عمل کیا ہے اور جو کچھ اس نے تم کو فرمایا تم بجا لا ئے۔ 19 اس لئے اسرائیل کا خدا، خداوند قادر مطلق یوں فرماتا ہے ریکاب کے بیٹے یوناداب سے ایک نسل ہمیشہ ہو گا جو میری خدمت کریگا۔”

The Rekabites
35 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord during the reign of Jehoiakim(A) son of Josiah king of Judah: 2 “Go to the Rekabite(B) family and invite them to come to one of the side rooms(C) of the house of the Lord and give them wine to drink.”
3 So I went to get Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers and all his sons—the whole family of the Rekabites. 4 I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the room of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah the man of God.(D) It was next to the room of the officials, which was over that of Maaseiah son of Shallum(E) the doorkeeper.(F) 5 Then I set bowls full of wine and some cups before the Rekabites and said to them, “Drink some wine.”
6 But they replied, “We do not drink wine, because our forefather Jehonadab[a](G) son of Rekab gave us this command: ‘Neither you nor your descendants must ever drink wine.(H) 7 Also you must never build houses, sow seed or plant vineyards; you must never have any of these things, but must always live in tents.(I) Then you will live a long time in the land(J) where you are nomads.’ 8 We have obeyed everything our forefather(K) Jehonadab son of Rekab commanded us. Neither we nor our wives nor our sons and daughters have ever drunk wine 9 or built houses to live in or had vineyards, fields or crops.(L) 10 We have lived in tents and have fully obeyed everything our forefather Jehonadab commanded us. 11 But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded(M) this land, we said, ‘Come, we must go to Jerusalem(N) to escape the Babylonian[b] and Aramean armies.’ So we have remained in Jerusalem.”
12 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying: 13 “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell(O) the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘Will you not learn a lesson(P) and obey my words?’ declares the Lord. 14 ‘Jehonadab son of Rekab ordered his descendants not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather’s command.(Q) But I have spoken to you again and again,(R) yet you have not obeyed(S) me. 15 Again and again I sent all my servants the prophets(T) to you. They said, “Each of you must turn(U) from your wicked ways and reform(V) your actions; do not follow other gods(W) to serve them. Then you will live in the land(X) I have given to you and your ancestors.” But you have not paid attention or listened(Y) to me. 16 The descendants of Jehonadab son of Rekab have carried out the command their forefather(Z) gave them, but these people have not obeyed me.’
17 “Therefore this is what the Lord God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Listen! I am going to bring on Judah and on everyone living in Jerusalem every disaster(AA) I pronounced against them. I spoke to them, but they did not listen;(AB) I called to them, but they did not answer.’”(AC)
18 Then Jeremiah said to the family of the Rekabites, “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have obeyed the command of your forefather(AD) Jehonadab and have followed all his instructions and have done everything he ordered.’ 19 Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jehonadab son of Rekab will never fail(AE) to have a descendant to serve(AF) me.’”

35 The word which came unto Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
2 Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the Lord, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.
3 Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;
4 And I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:
5 And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine.
6 But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever:
7 Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers.
8 Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;
9 Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:
10 But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
11 But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.
12 Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, saying,
13 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the Lord.
14 The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father's commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened not unto me.
15 I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
16 Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people hath not hearkened unto me:
17 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.
18 And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you:
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever.
