یعقوب کا اپنے بیٹوں کے لئے دُعا ئے خیر کر نا
49 پھر یعقوب نے اپنے بیٹوں کو اپنے پاس بُلا یا اور ان سے کہا کہ اے میرے تمام بیٹو! میرے پاس آؤ۔ اور میں تمہیں وہ باتیں بتا ؤں گا جو پیش آنے وا لی ہیں۔
2 “اے یعقوب کے بیٹو ، سب ایک ساتھ آکر بیٹھو۔
اور کہا کہ اپنے باپ اسرائیل کا کہنا سُنو۔”

3 “اے روبن تو میرا پہلو ٹھا بیٹا ہے۔
تو ہی میرا پہلا بچہ ہے۔
اس لئے تو میرے تمام بیٹوں سے طاقتور
اور قابل عزت ہے۔
4 لیکن تو کناروں سے اوپر بہتے ہو ئے
پانی کی طرح بے قابو ہے۔
اس لئے تمہیں
پہلی جگہ نہیں ملے گی۔
جس عورت کی شادی تیرے باپ سے ہو ئی تھی
اس عورت کے ساتھ تو ہمبستر ہوا۔
تو اپنے باپ کی عزت کو
بحال نہ رکھا۔”
شمعون اور لا وی
5 “شمعون اور لا وی دونوں بھا ئی ہیں۔
وہ دونوں تلوا روں سے لڑ نے کو پسند کر تے ہیں۔
6 وہ دونوں خفیہ طور پر بُرے کاموں کو کرنے کے منصوبہ بنا ئے۔
ا ن کی پوشیدہ محفلوں کو میری جان قبول نہیں کر تی۔
جب وہ غصّہ ہو ئے تو آدمیوں کو قتل کر ڈا لے۔
وہ بِلا کسی وجہ کے جانوروں کو مار ڈا لے۔
7 اُن کا غصّہ ہی اُن کے لئے لعنت بنا
کیوں کہ اُن کا غصّہ بہت سخت ہے۔
وہ یعقوب کی زمین میں بٹ جا ئیں گے
اور اسرائیل میں پھیل جا ئیں گے۔”
یہوداہ
8 “اے یہوداہ تیرے بھا ئی تیری تعریف کریں گے۔
تو اپنے دُشمنوں کو شکست دیگا۔
اور تیرے بھا ئی تیرے لئے جھک جا ئیں گے۔
9 یہوداہ ایک شیر کی طرح ہے۔
اے میرے بیٹے تو ا س شیر کی طرح ہے کہ جس نے ایک جانور کو مار دیا۔ اے میرے بیٹے تو ایک شیر کی طرح شکار کے لئے گھات میں بیٹھا ہوا ہے۔
یہوداہ شیر کی مانند ہے۔ وہ سو کر آرام کر تا ہے
اور اُسے چھیڑ نے کی کسی میں ہمت نہیں۔
10 وہ شاہی قوت کو اپنے ہاتھ میں رکھے گا
جب تک کہ وہ آ نہیں جاتا
جو اس کا جانشیں ہو گا۔
دوسری قوموں کے لو گ ان کی فرمانبردار ی کرینگے۔
11 وہ اپنے گدھے کو انگور کی بیل سے باندھے گا۔ اور اپنے گدھے کے بچے کو عمدہ قسم کی انگور کی بیل سے باندھے گا
وہ اعلیٰ درجہ کی انگوری مئے سے اپنے کپڑے دھو ئے گا۔
12 اس کی آنکھ مئے کی طرح سُرخ ہو گی۔
اور اس کا دانت دودھ کے مانند سفید ہو گا۔”
زبو لون
13 “زبولون سمندری ساحل پر سکونت پذیر ہو گا۔
سمندر کا کنارہ اُس کے جہازوں کے لئے ایک محفوظ جگہ ہے
اس کا ملک صیدا تک پھیلے گا۔”
اِشکار
14 “اِشکار بہت سخت محنت کر نے وا لے گدھے کی مانند ہو گا۔
وہ بہت بھاری اور وزنی بوجھ اٹھا نے کی وجہ سے سو کر آرام کریگا۔
15 وہ اپنے مکمل آرام کے لئے
سہولت بخش اور پُر امن و پُرسکون مقام کا انتخاب کریگا۔
وہ وزنی بوجھ اُٹھا نے کے لئے
اور ایک نوکر کی طرح کام کر نے کے لئے ذمّہ داری کو قبول کریگا۔”
دان
16 “اِسرائیل کے دوسرے خا ندانوں کی طرح
دان بھی اپنے خاص لوگوں کے لئے فیصلہ دیگا۔
17 دان راستے کے کنا رے پر پڑا ہوا
سانپ کی مانند ہو گا۔
وہ اس سانپ کی مانند ہے جو کہ گھو ڑا کے پیر پر کاٹتا ہے
اور سوار گر جا تا ہے۔
18 “اے خداوند میں تیری نجات کا منتظر ہوں۔”
جاد
19 “لٹیروں کی ایک ٹولی جاد کے اُوپر حملہ آور ہو گی۔
لیکن جاد اُن کا پیچھا کر کے اُنکو بھگا دے گا۔”
آشر
20 “آشر کی زمین عمدہ قسم کا اناج اُگا ئے گی۔
بادشاہ کی حسب ضرو ر ت عمدہ اناج اُس کے پاس ہو گا۔”
نفتا لی
21 “نفتا لی آزادانہ دوڑنے وا لی ہرن کی مانند ہے۔ وہ اس ہرن کی مانند ہے جو خوبصورت بچہ کو جنم دیتی ہے۔”
یوسف
22 “یوسف بہت کامیاب ہے۔
اور یوسف زیادہ میوہ دینے وا لی انگور کی بیل کی مانند ہے۔
وہ موسم بہار میں ہو نے وا لی انگور کی بیل کی مانند ہے۔
وہ دیوار پر پھیلی ہو ئی انگور ی بیل کی مانند ہے۔
23 کئی لوگوں نے اُس کے خلاف ہو کر اُس سے لڑا ئی جھگڑا کیا ہے۔
تیر انداز اُس کے دُشمن ہوگئے۔
24 لیکن انہوں نے اپنے منجھے ہو ئے با زوؤں کی بنا پر جو یہ جانتا ہے کہ کمان کے ساتھ لڑا ئی کیسے کی جا تی ہے لڑا ئی جیت لی۔
وہ طا قت کو یعقوب کی جواں مردی سے اور اسرائیل کی چٹان اور چروا ہے سے ،
25 اور اپنے باپ کے خدا سے حاصل کرے گا۔
خدا تیرے لئے خیر و برکت دیگا۔
خدا قادر مطلق تیرے لئے خیر و برکت دے۔
وہ بلند و بالا آسمان سے تیرے لئے خیر و برکت دے۔
اور وہ نیچے گہرے سمندر سے تیرے لئے خیر و برکت دے۔ ”
وہ تجھے چھا تیوں اور رحم سے خیر و برکت عطا کرے۔
26 میں تمہیں دُعا دونگا جو کہ ہمیشہ رہنے والی پہاڑیوں سے زیادہ مضبوط اور ہمیشہ رہنے والی پہاڑی سے زیادہ فراوانی بخش ہو گی۔
یوسف اپنے بھائیوں سے جدا کیا گیا تھا۔
لیکن اب اسے برکت دی جائے گی۔ ”
بنیمین
27 “بنیمین بھو کے بھیڑیئے کی مانند ہے۔
وہ صبح کے وقت میں پھاڑ کھا ئے گا
اور شام بچے ہو ئے کو بانٹ دیگا۔ ”
28 یہ اسرائیل کے بارہ قبیلے ہیں۔ اِن تمام باتوں کو اُن کے باپ اسرائیل نے ان سے بیان کیا۔ اس نے اپنے ہر بیٹے کو مناسب و موزوں دعائیں دیں۔ 29 اس کے بعد اسرائیل نے ان کو یہ حکم دیا اور کہا کہ جب میں مر جاؤں تو میں اپنے آباؤ اجداد کے پڑوس میں رہنے کو پسند کروں گا۔ مجھے وہاں دفناؤ جہاں میرے آباؤ اجداد کی غار عفرون حتّی کے کھیت میں ہے۔ 30 وہ غار ملک کنعان میں ممرے کے نزدیک مکفیلہ کے کھیت میں ہے۔ ابراہیم نے اس جگہ کو قبرستان کے لئے عفرون حتّی سے خرید لی تھی۔ 31 ابراہیم اور اس کی بیوی سارہ کی اسی گھا ٹی میں قبر بنائی گئی ہے۔ اسحاق اور ربقہ بھی اسی جگہ مدفون ہیں۔ میں نے اپنی بیوی لیاہ کو وہیں دفن کیا ہے۔ 32 اور کہا کہ اس غار اور غار والے کھیت کو حتّیوں سے خریدا گیا ہے۔ 33 یعقوب اپنے بیٹوں سے بات کر نے کے بعد اپنے بستر پر اپنے پیروں کو سمیٹتے ہو ئے وفات پا گئے۔

Jacob Blesses His Sons(A)
49 Then Jacob called for his sons and said: “Gather around so I can tell you what will happen to you in days to come.(B)
3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn,(E)
my might, the first sign of my strength,(F)
excelling in honor,(G) excelling in power.
4 Turbulent as the waters,(H) you will no longer excel,
for you went up onto your father’s bed,
onto my couch and defiled it.(I)
5 “Simeon(J) and Levi(K) are brothers—
their swords[a] are weapons of violence.(L)
6 Let me not enter their council,
let me not join their assembly,(M)
for they have killed men in their anger(N)
and hamstrung(O) oxen as they pleased.
7 Cursed be their anger, so fierce,
and their fury,(P) so cruel!(Q)
I will scatter them in Jacob
and disperse them in Israel.(R)
8 “Judah,[b](S) your brothers will praise you;
your hand will be on the neck(T) of your enemies;
your father’s sons will bow down to you.(U)
9 You are a lion’s(V) cub,(W) Judah;(X)
you return from the prey,(Y) my son.
Like a lion he crouches and lies down,
like a lioness—who dares to rouse him?
10 The scepter will not depart from Judah,(Z)
nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,[c]
until he to whom it belongs[d] shall come(AA)
and the obedience of the nations shall be his.(AB)
11 He will tether his donkey(AC) to a vine,
his colt to the choicest branch;(AD)
he will wash his garments in wine,
his robes in the blood of grapes.(AE)
12 His eyes will be darker than wine,
his teeth whiter than milk.[e](AF)
13 “Zebulun(AG) will live by the seashore
and become a haven for ships;
his border will extend toward Sidon.(AH)
14 “Issachar(AI) is a rawboned[f] donkey
lying down among the sheep pens.[g](AJ)
15 When he sees how good is his resting place
and how pleasant is his land,(AK)
he will bend his shoulder to the burden(AL)
and submit to forced labor.(AM)
16 “Dan[h](AN) will provide justice for his people
as one of the tribes of Israel.(AO)
17 Dan(AP) will be a snake by the roadside,
a viper along the path,(AQ)
that bites the horse’s heels(AR)
so that its rider tumbles backward.
22 “Joseph(BB) is a fruitful vine,(BC)
a fruitful vine near a spring,
whose branches(BD) climb over a wall.[k]
23 With bitterness archers attacked him;(BE)
they shot at him with hostility.(BF)
24 But his bow remained steady,(BG)
his strong arms(BH) stayed[l] limber,
because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob,(BI)
because of the Shepherd,(BJ) the Rock of Israel,(BK)
25 because of your father’s God,(BL) who helps(BM) you,
because of the Almighty,[m](BN) who blesses you
with blessings of the skies above,
blessings of the deep springs below,(BO)
blessings of the breast(BP) and womb.(BQ)
26 Your father’s blessings are greater
than the blessings of the ancient mountains,
than[n] the bounty of the age-old hills.(BR)
Let all these rest on the head of Joseph,(BS)
on the brow of the prince among[o] his brothers.(BT)
27 “Benjamin(BU) is a ravenous wolf;(BV)
in the morning he devours the prey,(BW)
in the evening he divides the plunder.”(BX)
28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel,(BY) and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, giving each the blessing(BZ) appropriate to him.
The Death of Jacob
29 Then he gave them these instructions:(CA) “I am about to be gathered to my people.(CB) Bury me with my fathers(CC) in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite,(CD) 30 the cave in the field of Machpelah,(CE) near Mamre(CF) in Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field(CG) as a burial place(CH) from Ephron the Hittite. 31 There Abraham(CI) and his wife Sarah(CJ) were buried, there Isaac and his wife Rebekah(CK) were buried, and there I buried Leah.(CL) 32 The field and the cave in it were bought from the Hittites.[p](CM)”
33 When Jacob had finished giving instructions to his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed, breathed his last and was gathered to his people.(CN)

49 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
18 I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord.
19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
20 Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.

23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
27 Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.
33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
