رو یا میں ٹڈیاں
7 خداوند نے مجھے رو یا دکھا ئی۔ اور کیا دیکھتا ہو ں کہ اس نے دوسری فصل کی ابتداء میں ٹڈیاں پیدا کیں۔بادشا ہ کی فصل کٹائی کے بعد یہ دوسری فصل تھی۔ 2 ٹڈیوں نے ملک کی ساری گھاس کھا ڈا لی۔اس کے بعد میں نے کہا، “میرے مالک خداوند، میں التجا کرتا ہوں، ہمیں معاف کر! یعقوب بچ نہیں سکتا! وہ بہت چھو ٹا ہے۔”
3 تب خداوند نے اس کے با رے میں اپنے منصوبہ کو بدلا۔ خداوند نے کہا، “ایسا نہیں ہو گا۔”

4 میرے مالک خداوند نے مجھے یہ چیزیں دکھا ئی: میں نے دیکھا کہ خداوند خدا آگ کو بارش کی طرح برسنے کے لئے بلا رہا ہے۔ آگ بحرِ عمیق کو نگل گئی۔ آگ نے زمین کو کھا لیا۔ 5 لیکن میں نے کہا، “خداوند خدا میں تم سے التجا کر تا ہوں، ٹھہر یعقوب بچ نہیں سکتا، وہ بہت چھو ٹا ہے۔”
6 تب خداوند خدا نے اس کے با رے میں ا پنا منصوبہ بدلا۔خداوند خدا نے کہا، “ایسا نہیں ہو گا۔ ”

7 خداوند نے مجھے دکھا یا: خداوند ایک دیوار کے سہا رے ایک سا ہول اپنے ہا تھ میں لے کر کھڑا تھا۔ دیوار ساہول سے سیدھی کی گئی تھی۔ 8 خداوند نے مجھ سے کہا، “عاموس تم کیا دیکھتے ہو؟ ”
میں نے کہا، “ساہول ”
تب میرے مالک نے کہا، “دیکھو میں بنی اسرائیل پر ساہول کا استعمال کرونگا۔ میں اب ان کی عیاری کو اور مزید نظر انداز نہیں کرونگا۔ میں ان بُرے حصوں کو کاٹ پھینکوں گا۔ 9 اسحاق کے اونچے مقام برباد ہونگے اور اسرائیل کے مقدس ویران ہو جا ئیں گے۔ اور میں یربعام کے گھر انے کے خلاف تلوار لے کر اٹھوں گا۔”
امصیاہ کا عاموس کو روکنے کی کوشش کرنا
10 بیت ایل کے کا ہن امصیاہ نے اسرائیل کے بادشا ہ یربعام کو بھیجا: “عاموس تیرے خلاف اسرائیل کی زمین میں سازش کا منصوبہ بنا تا ہے اور وہ بہت سی باتیں کہتے آرہے ہیں کہ زمین اسکی ساری باتوں کو برداشت نہیں کر سکتی۔ 11 عاموس نے کہا، 'یربعام تلوار سے مارا جا ئے گا اور بنی اسرائیلیوں کو قیدی بنا کر ملک سے با ہر لے جایا جا ئے گا۔”
12 امصیاہ نے بھی عامو س سے کہا، “اے غیب بین تو یہودا ہ کے ملک کو بھاگ جا۔ وہیں کھا و پی اور نبوت کر۔ 13 لیکن یہاں بیت ایل میں اور زیادہ نبوت نہ کر یہ بادشا ہ کی مقدس جگہ ہے۔ یہ اسرائیل کی ہیکل ہے۔”
14 تب عاموس نے امصیاہ کو جواب دیا کہ میں نہ نبی ہوں اور نہ ہی نبی کا بیٹا بلکہ چروا ہا اور گولر کا پھل بٹورنے وا لا ہو ں۔ 15 اور جب میں گلّہ کے پیچھے پیچھے جا تا تھا تو خداوند نے مجھے لیا اور فرمایا کہ جا میری قوم اسرائیل میں نبوت کر۔ 16 اس لئے خداوند کے کلام کو سنو۔ تم مجھ سے کہتے ہو، ’اسرائیل کے خلاف نبوت مت کرو۔اسحاق کے گھرانے کے خلاف کلام نہ کرو۔‘ 17 لیکن خداوند کہتا ہے: ' تمہا ری بیوی شہرمیں فاحشہ بنے گی۔ تمہا رے بیٹے اور بیٹیاں تلوار سے ہلاک ہو نگے۔ اور تیری زمین جریب سے تقسیم کی جا ئے گی اور تم ناپاک ملک میں رہو گے۔ بنی اسرائیل یقیناً ہی اس ملک سے قیدی کی طرح لے جا ئے جا ئیں گے۔”

Locusts, Fire and a Plumb Line
7 This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me:(A) He was preparing swarms of locusts(B) after the king’s share had been harvested and just as the late crops were coming up. 2 When they had stripped the land clean,(C) I cried out, “Sovereign Lord, forgive! How can Jacob survive?(D) He is so small!(E)”
3 So the Lord relented.(F)
“This will not happen,” the Lord said.(G)
4 This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me: The Sovereign Lord was calling for judgment by fire;(H) it dried up the great deep and devoured(I) the land. 5 Then I cried out, “Sovereign Lord, I beg you, stop! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!(J)”
6 So the Lord relented.(K)
“This will not happen either,” the Sovereign Lord said.(L)
7 This is what he showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb,[a] with a plumb line[b] in his hand. 8 And the Lord asked me, “What do you see,(M) Amos?(N)”
“A plumb line,(O)” I replied.
Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.(P)
9 “The high places(Q) of Isaac will be destroyed
and the sanctuaries(R) of Israel will be ruined;
with my sword I will rise against the house of Jeroboam.(S)”
Amos and Amaziah
10 Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel(T) sent a message to Jeroboam(U) king of Israel: “Amos is raising a conspiracy(V) against you in the very heart of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words.(W) 11 For this is what Amos is saying:
“‘Jeroboam will die by the sword,
and Israel will surely go into exile,(X)
away from their native land.’”(Y)
12 Then Amaziah said to Amos, “Get out, you seer!(Z) Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.(AA) 13 Don’t prophesy anymore at Bethel,(AB) because this is the king’s sanctuary and the temple(AC) of the kingdom.(AD)”
14 Amos answered Amaziah, “I was neither a prophet(AE) nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.(AF) 15 But the Lord took me from tending the flock(AG) and said to me, ‘Go,(AH) prophesy(AI) to my people Israel.’(AJ) 16 Now then, hear(AK) the word of the Lord. You say,
“‘Do not prophesy against(AL) Israel,
and stop preaching against the descendants of Isaac.’
17 “Therefore this is what the Lord says:

7 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.
2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
3 The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord.
4 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
5 Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
6 The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.
7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
8 And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10 Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
13 But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court.
14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
15 And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
16 Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.
17 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
