73 بے شک، اسرائیل کے لئے خدا بھلا ہے ،
خدا اُن لوگوں کے لئے بھلا ہو تا ہے ، جن کے دل پاک ہیں۔
2 میں تو لگ بھگ پھسل گیا تھا اور گناہ کر نے لگا تھا۔
3 جب میں نے دیکھا کہ شریر کامیاب ہو رہے ہیں۔
اور سکون سے رہ رہے ہیں۔ تب میں حسد محسوس کر نے لگا۔
4 وہ لوگ صحتمند ہیں،
انہیں زندگی کے لئے جدوّجہد نہیں کرنی پڑتی ہے۔
5 وہ مغرور لوگ مصیبتیں نہیں اُٹھا تے ہیں
جیسے ہم اٹھا تے ہیں۔ ویسے اُن کو دوسرے لوگوں کی طرح نہیں ہیں۔
6 اِس لئے وہ تکبّر اور نفرت سے بھرے رہتے ہیں،
وہ غرور اور نفرت سے بھرے ہوئے رہتے ہیں۔
یہ ویسا ہی صاف دکھا ئی دیتا ہے۔
جیسے زیور اور وہ خوبصورت لباس جن کو وہ پہنے ہیں۔
7 وہ لوگ ایسے ہیں کہ اگر کو ئی چیز دیکھتے ہیں، اور اُن کو پسند آجا تی ہے۔ تو اسے بڑھ کر چھین لیتے ہیں۔
وہ ویسا ہی کر تے ہیں جیسا انہیں پسند ہے۔
8 وہ ظالما نہ باتیں اور بُری بُری باتیں کہتے ہیں۔ وہ مغرور اور ہٹ دھرم ہیں۔
وہ دوسرے لوگوں سے فائدہ ا ُ ٹھا نے کا راستے بنا تے ہیں۔
9 مغرور لوگ سوچتے ہیں کہ وہ دیوتا ہیں۔
وہ اپنے آپ کو زمین کا حکمران سمجھتے ہیں۔
10 یہاں تک کہ خدا کے لوگ اُن شریرو ں کی طرف رجوع کرتے ہیں
اور جیسا وہ کہتے ہیں، ویسا یقین کر لیتے ہیں۔
11 وہ شریر لوگ کہتے ہیں،
“ہما رے اُن کا موں کو خدا ئے تعالیٰ نہیں جانتا جن کو ہم کہہ رہے ہیں!”
12 وہ لوگ بدنیت اور مغرور ہیں،
لیکن وہ دولت مند، اور مزید دولت مند ہو تے جا رہے ہیں۔
13 پھر میں اپنا دل پاک کیوں بناتا رہوں؟
اپنے ہا تھوں کو ہمیشہ صاف کیوں کرتا رہوں۔
14 اے خدا میں سارا دن تکلیف میں رہا
اور تو ہر صبح مجھ کو سزا دیتا ہے۔
15 اے خدا! میں یہ باتیں دوسروں کو بتا نا چا ہتا تھا۔
لیکن میں جانتا تھا کہ میں تیرے لوگوں سے غدّاری کروں گا۔
16 اِن باتوں کو سمجھنے کی میں نے کوشش کی ،
لیکن ان کا سمجھنا میرے لئے بہت دشوار تھا۔
17 جب تک میں تیرے گھر نہ گیا
اُن کو سمجھنے میں مجھے بہت دِقّت ہو ئی۔
18 اے خدا ! بے شک تو نے اُن لوگوں کو مہیب حالا ت میں رکھا ہے۔
اُن کا گر جانا بہت ہی آسان ہے اُن کا نیست و نابود ہو جانا بہت ہی آسان ہے۔
19 اچانک اُن پر مصیبت پڑ سکتی ہے، اور وہ مغرور لوگ فنا ہو جا ئیں گے،
اُن کے ساتھ بھیانک حادثہ ہوسکتا ہے۔ اور پھر اُن کا خا تمہ یقینی ہے۔
20 اے خداوند! وہ لوگ ایسے ہو نگے جیسے خواب ، جس کو ہم جاگتے ہی بھو ل جا تے ہیں۔
تو ایسے لوگوں کو ہما رے خواب کے بھیانک عفریت کی طرح غائب کر دے۔
21-22 میں بے عقل تھا۔میں نے دولتمندوں اور شریر لوگوں پر غور کیا ، اور میں پریشان ہو گیا۔
اے خدا ! میں تجھ پر غضبنا ک ہوا۔ میں احمق، جا ہل جانور کی طرح پیش آیا۔
23 وہ سب کچھ میرے پاس ہے، جس کی مجھے ضرورت ہے۔
میں تیرے ساتھ ہر دم ہوں۔ اے خدا تو میرا ہا تھ تھا مے ہو ئے ہے۔
24 اے خدا ! تو مجھے راہ دکھلا تا ، اور بہتر مشورہ دیتا ہے۔
آخر میں تو مجھے اپنے جلال میں لے لے۔ [a]
25 اے خدا ! آسمان میں صرف تو ہی میرا ہے ،
اور زمین پر مجھے کیا چاہئے، جب تو میرے ساتھ ہے۔
26 چا ہے میرا دماغ اور جسم ضائع ہو جا ئے
لیکن وہ چٹان میرے پا س ہے جسے میں چاہتا ہوں۔ خدا میرے پاس ہمیشہ ہے۔
27 اے خدا ! جو لوگ تجھ کو چھوڑ تے ہیں، وہ نیست و نابود ہو جا تے ہیں۔
تو انہیں تباہ کر دے گا جو تیرے وفا دار نہیں ہیں۔
28 لیکن میں خدا کے نزدیک آیا، میرے لئے یہی بہتر ہے۔
میں نے اپنی پناہ اپنے خداوند میرے ما لک کو بنا یا ہے۔
اے خدا ! میں اُن سبھی باتوں کا ذکر کروں گا جن کو توُنے کیا ہے۔

Psalm 73
A psalm of Asaph.
1 Surely God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart.(A)
2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;(B)
I had nearly lost my foothold.(C)
3 For I envied(D) the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.(E)
4 They have no struggles;
their bodies are healthy and strong.[a]
5 They are free(F) from common human burdens;
they are not plagued by human ills.
6 Therefore pride(G) is their necklace;(H)
they clothe themselves with violence.(I)
7 From their callous hearts(J) comes iniquity[b];
their evil imaginations have no limits.
8 They scoff, and speak with malice;(K)
with arrogance(L) they threaten oppression.(M)
9 Their mouths lay claim to heaven,
and their tongues take possession of the earth.
10 Therefore their people turn to them
and drink up waters in abundance.[c]
11 They say, “How would God know?
Does the Most High know anything?”
13 Surely in vain(P) I have kept my heart pure
and have washed my hands in innocence.(Q)
14 All day long I have been afflicted,(R)
and every morning brings new punishments.
15 If I had spoken out like that,
I would have betrayed your children.
16 When I tried to understand(S) all this,
it troubled me deeply
17 till I entered the sanctuary(T) of God;
then I understood their final destiny.(U)
18 Surely you place them on slippery ground;(V)
you cast them down to ruin.(W)
19 How suddenly(X) are they destroyed,
completely swept away(Y) by terrors!
20 They are like a dream(Z) when one awakes;(AA)
when you arise, Lord,
you will despise them as fantasies.(AB)
21 When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
22 I was senseless(AC) and ignorant;
I was a brute beast(AD) before you.
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.(AE)
24 You guide(AF) me with your counsel,(AG)
and afterward you will take me into glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?(AH)
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.(AI)
26 My flesh and my heart(AJ) may fail,(AK)
but God is the strength(AL) of my heart
and my portion(AM) forever.

73 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.
