داؤد ہمارے ساتھ نہیں آسکتا
29 فلسطینی افیق پر اپنے سپا ہیوں کے ساتھ جمع ہو ئے۔ اسرا ئیلیوں نے یزرعیل میں چشمہ کے پاس خیمہ ڈا لا۔ 2 فلسطینی حاکم اپنے ۱۰۰ آدمیوں اور ۱۰۰۰ آدمیوں کے گروہ کے ساتھ آگے بڑھ رہے تھے۔ داؤد اور اس کے آدمی اکیس کے ساتھ پیچھے سے قدم بڑھا رہے تھے۔
3 فلسطینی کپتانوں نے پو چھا ، “یہ عبرانی یہا ں کیا کر رہے ہیں؟”
اکیس نے فلسطینی کپتانوں سے کہا ، “یہ داؤد ہے۔ داؤد ساؤل کے افسروں میں سے تھا داؤد ایک طویل عرصہ سے میرے ساتھ ہے میں نے داؤد میں کو ئی غلطی نہیں دیکھی جب سے کہ وہ ساؤل کو چھو ڑ کر میرے پاس آیا ہے۔”
4 لیکن فلسطینی کپتان اکیس پر غصّہ میں آئے۔ انہوں نے کہا ، “داؤد کو واپس بھیجو۔” اس کو اس شہر کو واپس جانا چا ہئے جو تم نے اس کودیا ہے۔ وہ ہمارے ساتھ جنگ پر نہیں جا سکتا۔ اگر وہ ہم لوگوں کے ساتھ جنگ کے میدان میں آتا ہے ، تو وہ ہم لوگوں کے خلاف ہو جا ئے گا ، ہمدردی پھر سے حاصل کرنے کا ان کے لئے تعجب خیز موقع نہیں ہے ؟ 5 داؤد ہی آدمی ہے جس کے متعلق اسرا ئیلی گانا گاتے اور ناچتے ہیں:
“ساؤل نے ہزار دشمنوں کو مار دیا ہے۔
لیکن داؤد نے دسوں ہزار کو مارا ہے !”
6 اس لئے اکیس نے داؤد کو بُلا یا اور کہا ، “خداوند گواہ ہے کہ تم میرے وفادار ہو۔ میں بہت خوش ہوں گا اگر تم میری فوج میں خدمت کرو۔ جب سے تم میرے پاس آئے ہو تم نے کو ئی غلطی نہیں کی ہے۔ بہر حال فلسطینی حاکم نے تم کو منظور نہیں کیا۔ 7 سلامتی سے لوٹ جا ؤ اور فلسطینی حاکموں کو پریشان کرنے کے لئے کچھ نہ کرو۔”
8 داؤد نے پو چھا ، “میں نے کیا غلطی کی ہے ؟ ” تم نے مجھ میں کو ئی بُرائی دیکھی ہے جس دن سے میں تمہا رے پاس آیا ہوں؟” نہیں ! میرے خداوند بادشاہ کے دشمنوں سے مجھے لڑنے کے لئے کیوں نہیں جانے دیتے۔”
9 اکیس نے جواب دیا ، “مجھے یقین ہے تم ایک اچھے آدمی ہو۔ تم خدا کے فرشتے کی مانند ہو ، بہر حال فلسطینی کپتا ن کہتا ہے وہ ہمارے ساتھ جنگ میں نہیں جا سکتا۔
10 صبح سویرے ہی تم اور تمہا رے لوگ اس قصبے میں جا ؤ جسے میں نے تمہیں دیا ہے۔ تم اور وہ آدمی جو تمہارے ساتھ آیا ہے سویرے اٹھو اور سورج طلوع ہو نے پر اس جگہ کو چھو ڑدو۔”
11 اس لئے داؤد اور اس کے آدمی صبح سویرے اٹھے اور ملک فلسطینی کو واپس چلے گئے۔ اور اسی وقت فلسطینی یزر عیل کو چلے گئے۔

Achish Sends David Back to Ziklag
29 The Philistines gathered(A) all their forces at Aphek,(B) and Israel camped by the spring in Jezreel.(C) 2 As the Philistine rulers marched with their units of hundreds and thousands, David and his men were marching at the rear(D) with Achish. 3 The commanders of the Philistines asked, “What about these Hebrews?”
Achish replied, “Is this not David,(E) who was an officer of Saul king of Israel? He has already been with me for over a year,(F) and from the day he left Saul until now, I have found no fault in him.”
4 But the Philistine commanders were angry with Achish and said, “Send(G) the man back, that he may return to the place you assigned him. He must not go with us into battle, or he will turn(H) against us during the fighting. How better could he regain his master’s favor than by taking the heads of our own men? 5 Isn’t this the David they sang about in their dances:
“‘Saul has slain his thousands,
and David his tens of thousands’?”(I)
6 So Achish called David and said to him, “As surely as the Lord lives, you have been reliable, and I would be pleased to have you serve with me in the army. From the day(J) you came to me until today, I have found no fault in you, but the rulers(K) don’t approve of you. 7 Now turn back and go in peace; do nothing to displease the Philistine rulers.”
8 “But what have I done?” asked David. “What have you found against your servant from the day I came to you until now? Why can’t I go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”
9 Achish answered, “I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel(L) of God; nevertheless, the Philistine commanders(M) have said, ‘He must not go up with us into battle.’ 10 Now get up early, along with your master’s servants who have come with you, and leave(N) in the morning as soon as it is light.”
11 So David and his men got up early in the morning to go back to the land of the Philistines, and the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
