معاہدہ کے صندوق کی واپسی
13 داؤد نے ان سبھی عہدیداروں سے جو ہزارو ں اور سیکڑوں کے سپہ سالار تھے رابطہ قائم کیا۔ 2 داؤد نے اسرائیل کی پوری اجلاس سے کہا : “اگر تم محسوس کرتے ہو کہ یہ اچھا ہے اور اگر یہ خداوند ہمارا خدا کی طرف سے ہے تب ہمیں اسرائیل کے ہر علاقے میں رہنے وا لے ہمارے بھا ئیوں کے ساتھ ہی ساتھ کا ہنوں اور ان کے شہروں اور چراگاہوں میں رہنے وا لے لاویوں میں قاصدو ں کو بھیجنے دو۔تاکہ وہ ہم میں شامل ہو سکیں۔ 3 ہمیں ہمارے خدا کے معاہدہ کے صندوق کو واپس لا نے دو۔ کیو نکہ ہم لوگوں کو ساؤل کے دورِ حکومت میں رد کردیا تھا۔ 4 اور سارے اسرائیل ایسا کرنے کیلئے راضی ہو گئے۔کیونکہ تمام لوگوں نے خیال کیا تھا کہ ایسا کرنا صحیح ہے۔”
5 اور اس لئے داؤد نے مصر کو سیحور دریا سے حمات کے شہر تک تمام بنی اسرائیلیوں کو قریت یعریم شہر سے معاہدہ کے صندوق کو لانے کے لئے جمع کیا۔ 6 داؤد اور سارے اسرائیلی یہوداہ کے بعلہ ( قریت یعریم ) کو خدا کا صندوق، خداوند جو کروبی فرشتوں کے اوپر بیٹھتے ہیں ،واپس لا نے گئے یہ یہی صندوق ہے جسے خداوند کے نام سے پکا را جا تا ہے۔
7 ان لوگو ں نے معاہدہ کے صندوق کو ابینداب کے گھر سے ایک نئی گاڑی میں لا ئے۔عزّا اور اخیو گاڑی ہانک رہے تھے۔
8 داؤد اور سبھی بنی اسرائیل پورے جوش وخروش کے ساتھ تقریب منا رہے تھے۔ وہ لوگ گا رہے تھے اور بربط ، ستار ، ڈھول ،مجیرا اور بگل کے ساتھ موسیقی بجا رہے تھے۔
9 وہ کیدون کی کھلیان میں آئے گاڑی کھینچنے وا لے بیلو ں کو ٹھو کر لگی عزا نے معاہدہ کے صندوق کو سنبھالنے کے لئے اپنے ہا تھ آگے بڑھا ئے۔ 10 خداوندعزا پر بہت غصہ ہوا۔خداوند نے عزا کو مار ڈا لا کیوں کہ اس نے صندو ق کو چھو لیا تھا۔ اس لئے وہ خدا کے سامنے مر گیا۔ 11 داؤد غصّہ ہو ئے کیوں کہ خداوند نے اپنا غصہ عزا پر دکھا یا۔ اس لئے اب تک وہ جگہ “ پرض عزّا [a] سے جانی جا تی ہے۔
12 داؤد اس دن خدا سے ڈرگیا۔ اور اس نے کہا، “میں معاہدہ کے صندوق کو یہاں اپنے پاس کیسے لا سکتا ہوں؟” 13 اس لئے داؤد نے معاہدہ کے صندوق کو اپنے ساتھ شہر داؤد نہیں لے گیا۔ اس کے بجائے اس نے معاہدہ کے صندوق کو عوبید ادوم کے گھر پر رکھا۔ عوبید ادوم جاتی لوگوں میں سے تھا۔ 14 اس لئے معاہدہ کا صندوق عوبید ادوم کے خاندان کے ساتھ اس کے گھر میں تین مہینے رہا۔اور خداوند نے عوبید ادوم کے خاندان کو اور اس کے یہاں جو کچھ بھی اس کو فضل عطا کیا۔

Bringing Back the Ark(A)
13 David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds. 2 He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us. 3 Let us bring the ark of our God back to us,(B) for we did not inquire(C) of[a] it[b] during the reign of Saul.” 4 The whole assembly agreed to do this, because it seemed right to all the people.
5 So David assembled all Israel,(D) from the Shihor River(E) in Egypt to Lebo Hamath,(F) to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.(G) 6 David and all Israel went to Baalah(H) of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the Lord, who is enthroned between the cherubim(I)—the ark that is called by the Name.
7 They moved the ark of God from Abinadab’s(J) house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it. 8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.(K)
9 When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled. 10 The Lord’s anger(L) burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down(M) because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
11 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[c](N)
12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?” 13 He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom(O) the Gittite. 14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household(P) and everything he had.

13 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the Lord our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5 So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.
6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the Lord, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.
8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
11 And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.
12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.
14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.
