Bugging God
“C’mon, Dad,” Tyson said. “Go with us on Kingda Ka.” His sister, Macey, nodded. “Yeah, Dad. It’s the tallest roller coaster in the world!”
Looking up at the huge ride, their father cleared his throat. “You know, I loved going on these things when I was a kid, but they were a lot smaller back then.” Tyson and Macey pulled his arms. “Please ride with us, Dad,” Macey said. Resisting the tugs, their father replied, “I don’t know, guys. This old body may not be able to take it.”
They kept pleading and pulling. Finally he laughed. “Look, I’m thinking about it, okay? But if you keep bugging me, I’m not going.”
Kids often pester their parents to do stuff. But it’s not good to push too hard! Things are different with God. It’s impossible to bug him too much about something. God’s never going to answer your prayers with, “Go away and stop bothering me.” So don’t be afraid to keep coming to him again and again in prayer. Never give up until he gives you what you need.
Bible Verse: Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. – Luke 18:1
Did You Know? Jesus taught that it’s good to be bold and persistent in prayer. In one of Jesus’ parables, a man kept bugging his friend for bread. Because the man wouldn’t give up, he got what he needed. (See Luke 11:5-10)
